History & Brands

Indigo was created in 1994 and is the name behind the creation and development in 1996 of the Labourdonnais Waterfront Hotel, the first 5-star business hotel in Mauritius regarded as a benchmark in the local hospitality industry and a landmark in the capital Port Louis. Following this success, Indigo opened a second hotel on the prime waterfront location, the 4-star Le Suffren Hotel & Marina, designed to satisfy the needs of the modern day business traveler. Indigo Group then added Hennessy Park Hotel, a vibrant new 4-star business hotel in the hub of Ebene Cyber City in 2010. This was followed in 2013 by Le Suffren Apart’hotel, Mauritius’ first executive apartments designed for the business traveller on a longer stay. Later after, I Spa Fitness and Wellness Club was developed by Indigo to become a unique under one roof beauty, wellness and fitness centre for guests. The newest addition to the Indigo family is The Address Boutique Hotel, a charming, cosy and convivial 4 star hotel in the residential village of Port Chambly.

The Labourdonnais Waterfront Hotel is also certified ISO 9001 Quality Management System and ISO 14001 Environmental Management System. Yearly audits are conducted by independent parties to ensure that we maintain our best practices and continually improve our systems to achieve operational excellence. We also continuously strive to meet all compliance obligations and enhance the experience of our valued guests by innovating our products and services, thus exceeding their expectations.

Promoting our Cultural Heritage

Behind the scenes, Indigo Hotels is engaged into several activities to promote the extensive Mauritian heritage. Hand in hand with our guests and partners, we commit ourselves to support the cultural, culinary, artistic and historical legacy of our country. We work in partnership with local artisans, musicians, poets, writers, designers and performers in our hotels. We have set-up a cultural conciergerie in our flagship property in order to raise cultural awareness and allow our guests to have the chance to discover Mauritius’ hidden treasures. Events, exhibits and even food promotions are regularly organized to promote our rich cultural wealth and ensure that it is not left to be forgotten.

The tightly knit Indigo management team has worked together since the launch of the Labourdonnais Waterfront Hotel in 1996. Driven by passion, our experience and expertise has helped to create an international reputation for each hotel. Proud achievements include the launch of Le Suffren Hotel & Marina in 2004, the rebranding of the Hennessy Park Hotel in 2011, the launch of Le Suffren Apart’hotel in 2012 and the latest rebranding and renovation - in 2014 of The Address Boutique Hotel. The team embraces new challenges and Indigo’s innovative spirit has made a difference to the hotel industry both in Mauritius and overseas.
